Harriet Emily Nicola Forster was visiting Staithes, North Yorks. with her family when a section of cliff collapsed at the village’s South Pier.
Emergency crews rushed to Seaton Garth shortly after 4.30pm yesterday.
Paramedics desperately tried to save Harriet, from Oxford, but she had suffered head injuries and was pronounced dead shortly after they arrived.
Her family have spoken of their “indescribable pain” following little Harriet’s tragic death.
In a statement, Harriet’s family said: “We cannot comprehend the enormity of this tragedy.
“Harriet was the light of our lives.
“We ask that you give us time as a family to support each other through our indescribable pain.”
A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said Harriet was visiting Staithes with her family when the horror incident occurred
“Despite the efforts of the emergency services, including the Coastguard, the RNLI, ambulance, air ambulance, fire and rescue and the police, Harriet was sadly pronounced dead at the scene,” he said.
“North Yorkshire Police is compiling a report about the circumstances of the death on behalf of the coroner.”
